Description

Explore the human form through artistic abstraction. Under the guidance of a professional sculptor, you will develop hands-on foundational sculptural techniques for creating expressive ceramic figures.

Working from photographs and a live model, you will create two abstracted figurative sculptures in terra cotta clay using hands and a variety of clay tools. Through demonstrations and guided practice, instruction will focus on simplifying the figure into essential geometric forms while exploring gesture, proportion, surface design, and personal expression.

Students must be 18+ to attend, as the session may use the undraped model.

One bag of clay will be provided. See the supply list for additional required materials.

This seven-week class meets on Thursdays from September 17 to October 29.
